Hair Services Policies & Information 

 

Please read these policies in full before requesting an appointment or submitting a deposit.

These policies are designed to protect scheduling, ensure quality service, and provide every client with a professional,

organized, and enjoyable experience.

By booking an appointment and submitting a deposit, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to all policies outlined below.​

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS

Appointments are scheduled directly through BluFire Artistry to ensure each client is booked for the appropriate service and time.

To request an appointment, please text 443-766-2508 (text messages only). Phone consultations are available upon request.

Please include:

• Full Name

• Requested Service

• Preferred Date & Time (or general availability)

• Reference Photos (recommended)

Appointment requests may also be submitted through the website contact form. Please allow up to 72 hours for a response.

Appointments are not confirmed until a deposit has been received

CONSULTATIONS

Not sure which service is right for you?

Text a current photo of your hair along with inspiration photos before booking. Recommendations can be made based on your hair type, desired style, lifestyle, and maintenance goals.

DEPOSITS & BOOKING CONFIRMATION

A 50% non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is required to reserve all appointments.

• Deposit invoices must be paid within 24 hours or the appointment request will be released.

• Appointments are not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

• Deposits are applied toward your final service total.

• The remaining balance is due immediately upon completion of your appointment.

Payment of your deposit confirms agreement to all BluFire Artistry policies.

PAYMENT TERMS & METHODS

Payment is due immediately upon completion of your appointment.

Clients are expected to pay their remaining balance before leaving the studio or before the stylist departs a mobile appointment.

Delayed payments, payment extensions, or next-day payments are not accepted.

Failure to pay at the time of service may result in:

• Future appointments requiring full prepayment

• Refusal of future services

• Additional booking restrictions

A $5 processing fee applies to Apple Pay, Venmo, and Cash App transactions.

LOCATION

Services are provided in a private home studio located in Gwynn Oak, Maryland.

The exact address will be provided after your appointment has been confirmed.

Studio Guidelines

• A small, friendly cat is present.

• Please inform Oshean Blu of any allergies or fears related to cats prior to your appointment so appropriate accommodations can be discussed.

• Shoes must be removed upon entry.

• Socks are recommended (extras are available if needed).

• No additional guests or children are permitted unless they are receiving services.

• ​

TRAVEL SERVICES

Mobile appointments are available for clients with transportation limitations or disabilities.

Travel fees begin at $35+ and vary based on location.

A clean, well-lit workspace is required for setup. All necessary portable equipment will be provided.

Please Note:

• Children must have a separate caregiver present.

• Pets must be secured during the appointment.

• Excessive distractions or interruptions may extend service time. Additional fees may apply if additional time or adjustments are required to complete the service.

CLIENT PREPARATION

Arriving properly prepared allows your appointment to begin on time and helps ensure the best possible results.

Protective Styles

(Braids, Twists, Crochet &  Faux Loc Services)

• Hair must be freshly shampooed.

• Hair must be thoroughly blow-dried.

• Hair must be completely detangled before arrival.

• Excessively tangled or matted hair may require additional fees or result in refusal of service.

• Detangling performed during the appointment will be billed as an additional service.

Hair Policy

Hair is not included with protective style services unless requested during booking.

If you would like BluFire Artistry to provide hair, please mention this while scheduling your appointment. Guidance will be provided regarding the appropriate hair type and quantity.

Service times may vary depending on hair condition, density, length, and overall style complexity.

SILK PRESS & COLOR PREPARATION

Silk Press

• Please do not shampoo your hair before your appointment.

• Arrive with your hair detangled and free of heavy product buildup.

​

Hair Color

• Avoid shampooing or excessive manipulation for 24–48 hours before your appointment.

• Avoid tight styles such as buns, braids, or ponytails prior to service.

• Hair should be loose, detangled, and in its natural state.

​

ADDITIONAL FEES

Hair Length Upcharges (Protective Styles: Braids & Twists)

Additional length fees apply based on the final installed length of the protective style.

• 24" — +$15

• 26" — +$25

• 28" — +$35

• 30" — +$45

• 32" — +$55

• 34" — +$65

• 36" — +$75

• 38" — +$85

Add-Ons

Accessories (beads, jewelry, string, cuffs, etc.) begin at $10+.

LATE POLICY

A 10-minute grace period is provided for all appointments.

More than 10 minutes late:

• $15 late fee

More than 20 minutes late:

• Appointment will be canceled.

• Deposit will be forfeited.

Please communicate delays as early as possible.

A no-show is defined as arriving more than 20 minutes late without communication.

CANCELLATION, RESCHEDULING & NO-SHOW POLICY

To respect everyone's time, BluFire Artistry maintains the following scheduling policy.

​

Rescheduling

One complimentary reschedule is permitted when at least 24 hours' notice is provided.

A second reschedule or late cancellation will require payment equal to 50% of the service total before another appointment may be scheduled.

​

Late Cancellations

Appointments canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time will:

• Forfeit the original deposit.

• Require payment equal to 50% of the scheduled service before rebooking.

​

No-Shows

Clients who fail to arrive without communication or repeatedly cancel late may be placed on Prepaid Status.

Clients on Prepaid Status must pay 100% of their service total in advance before any future appointment will be confirmed.

​

SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS

If the condition of your hair differs significantly from what was discussed during booking, the recommended service, appointment length, or final pricing may be adjusted accordingly.

HEALTH & SANITATION

Clients experiencing symptoms of illness are kindly asked to reschedule their appointment.

This policy helps protect both clients and stylist while maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

​

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE

BluFire Artistry reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service at any time due to:

• Repeated policy violations

• Disrespectful or inappropriate behavior

• Unsafe working conditions

• Failure to follow preparation requirements

• Any situation that compromises the quality or safety of the service
